Thanksgiving: A Thankful Thanksgiving Table

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’m trying to get everything ready…which of course means deciding what I’m going to do with my Thanksgiving table.  I’m back and forth over whether or not I want to do something oriented around my little ones, or if I want to be a little less “mommy” and a little more “grown-up”.  Ultimately, in my house, “mommy” typically wins!  Last year I used our Thankful Party Decorations to spice up the table…

I hung the mini banners on the back of the chairs, used the tented labels as place cards, and the 2″ cirlces to accent the napkins.  We all had the “I am thankful for” cards to fill out and share over dinner.  It was low-key and very fun.  Last Thanskgiving was the first year that our little family spent Thanksgiving alone without extended family.  I was worried it would be underwhelming, but the intimate time of thanksgiving was actually sweet and very fun…

Although this year I am very much looking forward to sharing the cooking responsibilities!!!

I am also a big fan of coloring and activity pages for the kids at the table.  I mean really….it’s hard to sit still with the grownups that long!!!  My Aubrey (then 2) had a great time coloring her turkey.  My Emma (then less than 1) had a great time EATING the crayons!!! Alas, a little crayon ingestion never hurt anyone, right???

Here are my little princesses on Thanksgiving last year…I can’t believe how much they have grown!!!   Time slow down….quick:)  I love looking back at old pictures of my babies…sometimes you forget how much they are growing when you are with them everyday.  Those old photos really put things in perspective!!!  I love those little faces…
