Halloween: Halloween Wreaths and Door Hangers

Ok…so if you were to drive down my street right now, you know what you would see? Several elaborately Halloween decorated homes with lights and fake cob webs and creepy figurines…and one very plain, very non-festive, very undecorated house. Yep…that would be mine. I dropped the ball this year, big time when it comes to decorating. So now a week before Halloween…I am FINALLY getting around to decorating my house.  I may not go all out this year (I mean who really WANTS to clean up piles of fake spiderwebs???), but I can at least make my house look...

Halloween: Corny Candy Corn Crafts

Ok, so you know when you walk into a store the day after Labor Day and they already have their Halloween Decorations and you groan and say “Halloween already?”…that’s not me:) I actually got a little irritated at Target the other day because they only had a small portion of their Halloween decorations out. There were all these empty shelves with labels that sounded super cool…but no product.  That’s just mean!!! Way to tease, Target…way to tease:) I LOVE holiday decorations (granted as soon as the Halloween decor comes out I wait patiently for Christmas Decor to come out,...

So I don’t know about you, but I’m on a bit of Halloween overload:)  I did, however want to share this awesome Halloween party by Crissy’s Crafts using the FREE Gothic Halloween Printables I designed for Catch my Party. no mere mortal can resist the evil of the thriller…

Happy Halloween everybody…I feel kinda bad today because we are going to a trunk or treat at our church tonight which means our house will be dark and candy-less for all those trick ‘r’ treaters!!!  Yep, we are gonna be that house. My little cheerleader and pumpkin are excited to eat candy. (In all fairness, my pumpkin gets excited to eat lint on the floor and doesn’t actually know she is getting candy). So Halloween confessional: I have a secret desire to be involved in a THRILLER FLASH MOB. Sad, I know.  They just look so fun and I’m a huge Michael Jackson of the 80’s fan.  (You have to clarify that because the several reincarnations of Michael Jackson might as well be several different artists).  I love the THRILLER album.  When I was A’s age, I used to run around singing “Bee Jean” (Billy Jean). So for all of you who want to be in my flash mob fantasy…here’s a video to practice...

{PINTEREST} Green Halloween?

So typically the colors that come to mind when talking about Halloween are ORANGE and BLACK.  Orange jack-o-lanterns, black cats, but what about GREEN??  Everything is green these days…EVERYTHING.  You even get dirty looks at the grocery store if you opt out of the reusable bags and ask for plastic (but seriously…they are so much easier to carry than paper and I barely remember to bring my LIST half the time, let alone remember to bring bags.) I may be committing the biggest social sin imaginable by admitting this…but I am so not GREEN…not at all.  I really don’t care about saving trees or animals or how much CO2 is in the air…I have no need to know my carbon footprint.  I don’t recycle.  I’m totally wasteful.  And I never donate to any animal causes. I am so un-GREEN, I’m RED!!!  I know…I know…I just don’t see the benefit, sorry:( In spite of that, there is one area where I am VERY GREEN… CRAFTS!!! I LOVE recycling in crafts.  There is something beautiful to me about taking ordinary objects, trash, or undesirable things and re-purposing them to be something new and fresh and completely usable.  There is so much creativity in making a completely random object into a whole new random object:) Also being GREEN in crafts is frugal…Crafting can be spendy, especially when you try to be unique...
