Sticky Fingers and Crusts Galore, Our little peanut is turning FOUR!  The theme for my sweet little Emma’s party was inspired by her LOVE of pb&j.  This was seriously one of my favorite parties to plan (and yes…I realize I basically say this about EVERY party!!)

My Emma is a little spitfire who loves cute and silly things, so going overboard on the pb&j was perfect for her.  Everything was peanut butter and jelly inspired from the food to the games.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Decorations

For the decor, I used lots of pink and purple (for her favorite jelly flavors, strawberry and grape) and burlap for a shabby chic peanut butter shell feel.  I incorporated a lot of kraft paper into the design too, to emphasize the peanut butter tan and play up the rough feel of the shabby chic.

Party Backdrop

For the party backdrop, I painted wood to match the printable design with brown stripes and pink polka dots.  The central focus was a vinyl adhesive print of the design from the printable set.

It helped to set the tone of the party.

Welcome Sign

For the welcome sign, which is my favorite way to greet a party, I attached the printable welcome sign to a burlap covered foam wreath.  It was super easy to make by wrapping and hot glueing the burlap to the foam.

All of the printables used in this party are available at the bottom of this post (look for the teal button at the bottom).  The design was made with the peanut print in mind and the colors or strawberry and grape jelly.

The package includes things like this gifts banner and the mini name banner above.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake Recipe: Step by Step

Ingredients:

  • White Cake Recipe (or a box of White Cake Mix)
  • Cream Cheese Frosting- 2 cans
  • Peanut Butter 5-8 Tablespoons
  • Strawberry Jam 5-8 Tablespoons
  • Red Food Coloring (optional)

Step #1:

Bake 4 round cakes using a Non-Stick 9 Inch Round Cake Pan.  Flip the pan upside down onto wax paper and place in the freezer until ready to frost and serve.

IMG_0456

Step #2:

Mix one can of cream cheese frosting with 5-8 Tbsp of Peanut butter until it is the consistency and taste desired.  Mix the second can of cream cheese frosting with 5-8 Tbsp of Strawberry Jam until it is the consistency and taste desired.

A little bit of red food coloring can be added to the strawberry frosting to create the correct color of pink.  I recommend only 1-2 drops.

Step #3

Place one of the round cakes onto the cake plate and frost the top with the peanut butter frosting.  Make sure to get the frosting close to the edge of the cake.

It does not need to be smooth or even…in fact, messier makes it look more authentic.  Add another layer of cake and frost with the strawberry frosting.

Repeat with a third cake and peanut butter frosting.  Add a final cake to the top .
