Bible Study: Bible Reading Bookmarks Freebie

I’m gonna go on a slight tangent today from what I normally blog about.  I’m going to talk about something that is super important to me.  I guess I should preface this post with a little background info on me:

I like to read blogs…blogs of many of my old friends and new friends and blogs of other party peeps I love and also some mommy blogs that are just plain entertaining… I have often seen others writing about their personal faith and church related things.  I however, have yet to do so…

I decided that since my faith is really a humongous part of life, it is kinda stinky of me not to share it with you guys…

If you are offended by or not interested in my faith, feel free to skip this blog post…you won’t hurt my feelings.  I do have a freebie at the end though:)

Here goes…

My name is Holly and I am a Christian. (Most accurately I am a Born-Again Christian).

There are a lot of different definitions of “Christian” out there, so I’m gonna take a moment to explain what that means to me. I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  I believe that the Bible is God’s word and completely without error.  Anything added to the Bible or taken away from the Bible is wrong.  I believe that because God is a holy and just God, to live within God’s will is to be without sin.  This is impossible for us.  We, as human beings are imperfect and sinful. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)  The Bible says “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23), therefore because of our sin…we are destined to an eternal separation from God in Hell.

For this reason, God became man in the form of his son Jesus Christ and sacrificed himself to pay the debt for our sin so we could be forgiven of our sin and washed clean.  This is huge…the creator of the universe loved each one of us enough to die in our place when we totally didn’t deserve it.

I believe that through the recognition that we are sinners and cannot earn our own salvation “For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not as a result of works, that no one should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9), through the acceptance of this free gift of salvation “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31), and repentance of our sinful ways “Therefore repent and return to God, so that your sins may be wiped out” (Acts 3:19)  we can instead spend eternity in the presence of the one true God.  I believe part of repenting from your sins is seeking to God’s plan for your life and seeking to follow His lead.  To know God’s will for your life, you have to dialogue with him…prayer and daily Bible reading.  This is probably MY area of biggest struggle..listening to God.  I can always find an excuse to put off my Bible study…laundry, screaming children, blogging…

I decided I needed to invest in a concrete plan to keep myself accountable and fully listening for God.  Frankly, living within His will is just way better than living outside of it. (That’s a discussion for another time)

I recently was listening to a Bible teacher that I LOVE (Chuck Missler) who gave a simple and straight forward way to read through the Bible yearly.  Based on this system, I have designed some handy bookmarks to assist anyone who is looking to read through God’s word daily.
